Rey’s revelation in ‘Rise of Skywalker’ changes Star Wars for the worse

Queste parole, dette da un’amica nel 2015 […] sulle origini della nostra eroina Rey, mi sono passate per la mente molte volte negli ultimi anni. […]
Se non è nessuno, è tutti noi. Era un messaggio che molte anime scoraggiate dovevano davvero ascoltare durante questi tempi bui. Noi, il popolo, abbiamo il potere supremo, la Forza, e non una linea di sangue aristocratica o altro. I nostri miti rappresentano i nostri valori e il mito spaziale più amato del mondo sembrava essere ben saldamente democratico, baluardo delle pari opportunità e del rispetto per tutti.
Ho ricordato di nuovo la frase della mia amica questa settimana, durante le proiezioni multiple di L’ascesa di Skywalker. Perché J.J. Abrams ha definitivamente infranto le speranze dei fan di Rey Nessuno. Con un colpo di penna, Rey è passata dall’essere tutti noi a essere la nipote dell’Imperatore, il cui ritorno dalla morte non è mai stato completamente spiegato. E la lunga battaglia di Star Wars fra le sue tendenze democratiche e aristocratiche, è stata finalmente vinta da quest’ultima.
[…] Se aveva intenzione di farla diventare Rey Palpatine, questo non era il modo più orribile di farlo. Nemmeno se Abrams non riesce a dirci con chi Palpatine ha copulato per creare suo figlio, il padre di Rey. Il che ci fa lasciare il cinema e andare a casa con quella domanda spiacevolmente visiva. Grazie, JJ.
Abrams […] Sta attento a continuare l’idea che i genitori di Rey non fossero nessuno; ma ora ci viene detto che lo erano per scelta, trasformandosi deliberatamente in ciò che Kylo precedentemente chiamava sudici mercanti di rottami, per tenerla al sicuro dall’Imperatore.
C’è anche una sottotrama alquanto confusa su Finn e la sua sensibilità alla Forza, che potrebbe essere un tentativo di mitigare i fan di Rey Nobody. Vedi? Uno dei tuoi altri personaggi preferiti in realtà è venuto dal nulla e ha la Forza! Tranne che non è poi così chiaro, e continua a solo a avere “sensazioni”.
E ovviamente Rey alla fine rifiuta il suo nome imperiale e tutte le solite cretinate di Palpatine sul “destino” e arriva fino a darsi un nome di famiglia scelto, Skywalker, proprio alla fine della saga.
Ma, beh, anche quella decisione la allinea ancora con il concetto di aristocrazia basata sulla Forza.
Personalmente, mi trovo in linea con diversi impiegati della Lucasfilm con cui ho parlato alla premiere di L’ascesa di Skywalker, quelli che hanno confessato di essere stati turbati da Rey Palpatine per mesi.
Perché? Perché più approfondisci la storia, più vedi come la trama di Abrams cambia la natura fondamentale di Star Wars – e non in meglio.
